Definition for anthropometry is explaining that the word comes from the Greek anthropos (human) and metric (measure).It is the discipline that describes the quantitative differences of human body measurements and studies about the dimensions given as reference anatomical structures. Those are helping us to describe the physical characteristics of a person or group of people, and serves as a tool of ergonomics in order to adapt the environment to the people.
Anthropometry and biomechanics are relating fields of the attempts to measure the physical characteristics and body functions, including linear dimensions, weight, volume, movements, etc., to optimize the system man – machine – environment.
